- Is any body else having troubles trying to get the Cardinal MVP288IV
- Fax Modem PnP and the Sound Blaster 32 PnP cards to work together?
-
- The cards are both plug and play supported with win95 drivers. The
- problem is that they both want to use IRQ 5. The Cardinal seems to
- only work on COM4 IRQ5--which I didn't want. I wanted the sound card
- on its usual setting of IRQ5.
-
- The PnP modem will also immediately reinstall itself after removing
- from device manager. Another irritating problem--Win95 usually
- installs the modem twice when it finds the drivers were deleted at
- device manager.
-
- I can get them to work together by disabling the auto feature of both
- cards (in device manager) and picking my own IRQ's. Also the device
- manager will pick weird combinations like COM6 IRQ13, COM4 IRQ7...
-
- Every now and then, when Win95 looses my modem, it decides to
- reinstall itself (won't work with more than 1 driver).
-
- Just thought I'd see if the problem was just me. . . You'd think that
- two Plug and Play devices would be able to work together on a PnP
- operating system like WIN95. <grin>
-
- BTW I am going to upgrade my BIOS to a new plug and play version
- (mainly for a 1.6 gig HD upgrade). . . maybe this will help.

- Thanks for any helpful comments :->
